AFE Slipway, originally started as Port Lincoln Ship Construction in 1980, and was taken over by Port Lincoln Marine Services in 1994, and again by Diesel Marine Services in 2001.
Australian Fishing Enterprises (AFE) has always had a part ownership in the slipway and yard. In July 2007, AFE took full control of the facility and are continually investing in people, machinery and accreditation. |

| AFE Slipway offers the following services: |
• Slipways: One main slip for vessels up to 1200 tonnes and 80 metres in length. There are 2 smaller slips traversing off the main facility, with both having the capacity to accommodate vessel up to 300 tonnes, and 77 metres in length on no. 2 and 20 metres in length on no. 3. There is also the capability to lift vessels of up to 20 tonnes out of the water by crane on to the hardstand area.
• Secure Repair Berth: To accommodate vessels 40 metres in length with 5 metre draft.
• Machining: There is a fully equipped machine shop, with lathes to accommodate 4.8 metre shafts up to 830 mm in diameter, a horizontal boring machine, a milling machine etc.
• Fabrication/boiler shop: A fully equipped fabrication shop, with 3 overhead gantries, of 3, 5 and 7 tonne capacity respectively.
• Carpenters/shipwright shop: A fully equipped shipwright’s facility.
• Blasting and painting: A blast booth, 3 x blasting pots and airless spray units.
• Electrical: Marine electricians with up to date quality testing equipment.
• Services store: The store is located within the facility at Billy Lights Point, and has over 10,000 line items of engineering equipment and products. |

Uses a Gas Fired Rotomoulder to produce polyethylene products for domestic, industrial and aquaculture industries.
Accreditation: AFE Slipway is a division of the Sarin Group, which conducts its operations in accordance with a Quality, Safety and Environmental (QSE) Management System.

The OHS aspects of the system have proven beneficial with a 50% reduction in Work cover levies as a consequence of best practice and reduced claims.
In June 2007, the Board issued a directive that during the financial year 2007/2008, that all major Sarin Group entities (which include): |
• AFE Slipway
• AFE Polybond
• Eyria Investments (Property)
• SAMS Sea Farms
• KIS Tuna |
Will all come under the same QSE Management System for greater corporate governance.
This process has already begun with the integration of Sarin Group and AFE Slipway policies and procedures. |
